This New Horror Film Can Be Streamed, and It Has the Power to Test Your Relationship.

We present a challenge for partners in committed relationships who appreciate horror films: Settle in with your significant other and stream Together. The critically acclaimed 2025 movie recently had its online premiere via Hulu. At first glance, it may seem like standard body horror, but inside Together lies a profound meditation about how we choose to love our partners.

An Introductory Film Exploring The Nuances of Love

Together represents the introductory feature for filmmaker Michael Shanks. It showcases the real-life married couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie as a couple named Tim and Millie, a pair who are not married that have stayed together for ten years. Married in actuality in 2017, Franco and Brie infuse a special spark to their characters, masterfully depicting both the strengths and weaknesses of a committed partnership.

The narrative begins when the couple transition from the metropolis to the rural area for Millie’s job. A somewhat stereotypical story element, of course, but that’s primarily where the conventions cease. Together becomes as much a examination of mental states of the pair’s relationship as it is a film about physical terror.

A Paranormal Spark

While walking near their country house, a tempest descends, and the two fall into an subterranean cavern. After spending the night there and managing to escape, a supernatural entity starts to affect the pair. This force induces a supernatural closeness between them that goes exceeding typical partnership.

The whole movie is a gradually intensifying fright fest, weaving in elements of fever-dream horrors, gross (but tastefully done) biological grotesqueries, and surprisingly comedic interactions (sometimes during something horrific). Michael Shanks orchestrates these parts neatly and delivers them in a consistently growing atmosphere of fear.

Complex Characterizations

A large part of Together is solely the two lead actors, and they masterfully render manifold depths to the dynamic between Tim and Millie. Her self-assurance and emotional bond is deteriorating due to a distance. Her subconscious resentment of Tim for his unwillingness to chase only his failing musical ambitions inexorably rises.

Tim, on the other hand senses confinement and cut off by Millie, who’s the cause they’ve left the city and removed from his support system. He dreads the notion of totally forfeiting his personal autonomy in his partner. This fear is amplified by the circumstance he lacks a driver's license and is dependent on Millie for mobility.

The film's most intelligent aspect in Together avoids making one partner or the other the clear bad guy.

The couple grapple with the sort of issues that are inherent in long-term unions after ten years. Deep down, they have affection for each other. They still laugh together, comfort one another, and are vulnerable at times. But below this facade, there’s an inescapable current of uncertainty about their bond.

Thematic Depth

While the supernatural forces in Together act as a metaphor for these anxieties of codependency and totally devoting oneself to a partner, the symbolism does not come across as hamfisted or self-important. Instead, these more disturbing, unsettling scenes offer a ideal counterpart to the character-driven drama. Both the supernatural and the personal work together symbiotically.

A Debated Finale

Together’s ending, which remains unspoiled, has left audiences divided on the story's concluding statement about enmeshed dynamics. Accounts suggest that unattached audience members have seen the movie as a powerful case for remaining unattached. Conversely, some couples having disagreements found that the film ultimately assisted them resolve their issues.

Regardless of your relationship status, your own interpretation could function as a revealing measure of how you view relationships. Will the conclusion inspire feelings of uneasiness and dread, or a uplifting feeling of optimism? Will you recognize your own traits in either protagonist and yell at the screen, or simply look at your partner and say, “I’d do that for you”?

Regardless of the outcome, Together is an test you can embark on right now.

Together is available to watch on the streaming service Hulu as of this moment.
